Algebra is Tramway's digital literary journal. Edited by Beatrice Colin, the fourth issue features eight writers you probably haven't heard of yet, Algebra 4 is a collaboration with the Scottish Book Trust and showcases some of the brightest emerging literary talent in Scotland in 2012.
In preparation for the commission, the writers came from all over Scotland for a workshop at Tramway with choreographer, Rosalind Mason and visual artist Nicholas Party, and spent the day tying themselves in knots and coming up with poems in plasticine. In this extra-special issue of Algebra, the writers have taken the idea of 'the new' and written stories and poems that explore themes such as love, lost and found, death and rebirth, and take place in setting as diverse as a Scottish Island and a desert canyon. Funny, sad, beautiful and strange, we hope you'll love this issue as much as we do.
